TUSCALOOSA, Al — The wait is almost over as Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux plans to host a grand opening for its first Tuscaloosa location on Monday, May 31.

The new Walk-On’s restaurant at 675 Skyland Boulevard will hold an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama at 10 a.m. Monday and will also offer a drawing for the chance to win free food for a year. The Louisiana-inspired eatery will accept entries for the contest through its Facebook page and in the restaurant during its first full month of business.

The winner will be announced the week of June 28.

“We are thrilled to bring Walk-On’s to Tuscaloosa,” said franchisee Shane Morrison. “There’s nothing like our authentic, mouthwatering Cajun cuisine in the area, so I’m confident that Walk-On’s will be a hit. Plus, our game-day atmosphere is perfect for cheering on the Crimson Tide. We’ve hired 200 winning All-American team members and we can’t wait to celebrate our grand opening with everyone next week. Roll Tide!”

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based company said Morrison is Walk-On's biggest franchisee, as Patch previously reported, with two restaurants currently open in Alabama (Montgomery and Mobile) and nine total as the brand continues to grow.
