ALDOT To Add Lanes To Highway 280 Near Pumphouse Road

The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to add lanes to U.S. 280 between Doug Baker Blvd. and Red Mountain Expressway.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to add lanes to U.S. 280 near Pumphouse Road in an effort to solve some of the traffic problems in the area. The project includes two phases, according to a Birmingham Business Journal report.

Improvements will be made between the Red Mountain Expressway and Doug Baker Boulevard. ALDOT will add an additional lane on 280 from Lakeshore Drive to Pump House Road in the first phase of the project, and the second phase will include the replacement of the Pump House Road Bridge that crosses over 280 as well as an additional lane from Pump House Road to I-459, the BBJ said.
