Food Delivery Service To Lay Off 500 Alabama Employees

Waitr food delivery service is expected to lay off around 500 employees in the state.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A popular food delivery service is expected to lay off close to 500 employees in Alabama. Louisiana-based Waitr, a mobile app-based service that arrived in Birmingham in 2017, is switching to independent contractors, according to a Birmingham Business Journal report.

Starting in April, 491 employees statewide will be laid off, according to the BBJ report.
