Former Vestavia Hills Councilman To Run For County Commission
Vestavia Hills councilman Steve Ammons announced he will run for Jefferson County Commission.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - When longtime Jefferson County Commissioner David Carrington announced he would not seek re-election for the District 5 spot on the commission, that opened the door for a new representative for Vestavia Hills on the county commission. One person looking to fill that role is former Vestavia Hills City Council member Steve Ammons.
Ammons will face State Rep. Jack Williams in the June 5 primary. According to a report by the Vestavia Voice, Williams announced his candidacy in May.
Ammons served on the city council from 2008 to 2016, and has since worked in the private sector, as the owner and operator of Background IQ, an employment-screening company that does background checks for businesses. Ammons also is the founder and president of the Vestavia Hills Police Foundation, the current president of the Vestavia Hills Sunrise Rotary, a member of the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce and the vice president of the Mid-Alabama Republican Club.
