Patch Game Of The Week: Homewood Faces Vestavia

In an inter-class match-up, Homewood goes to Vestavia to take on the Rebels.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - Vestavia Hills will open its season officially this weekend, and does so taking on a cross-town rival in Homewood. The annual inter-class clash features two teams with some high expectations this season.

These two teams have played each other ever year since 1972. The 6-0 win by Homewood last season marked the first time since 1973 that the Patriots shut out the Rebels. This is Vestavia's regular-season opener after the Rebels played Briarwood Christian in an exhibition game last week and won 20-0 over the top-ranked 5A school.

Homewood had a bit more than a touchdown to spare in a 18-7 win over Hueytown. The Homewood offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the contest anyway.
Tre Ausmer of Homewood is the player most eyes will be on, as the wideout caught four passes for 152 yards and a touchdown in last week's win over Hueytown.
