Rebels Capture Boys Tennis Championship
The Vestavia boys tennis team won the state championship over Huntsville this week.
VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - The Vestavia Hills High School boys tennis team came away with the school's fifth boys state championship Tuesday as the Rebels defeated Hunstville High School. The AHSAA Class 7A state tennis championships were held at Jimmy Johns Tennis Center at Point Mallard Park in Decatur.
The victory snapped a three-year winning streak by Mountain Brook, which posted 24 points to finish third.
Auburn’s Philip Bosman beat Grissom’s Parrish Simmons 6-4, 6-1 for the No. 1 singles crown. Vestavia Hills won two singles titles - George Fan at No. 3 and Gray Moore at No. 5. The Rebels’ team of Daniel Wheeler and Ethan Arrington won at No. 2 doubles title, and Vestavia won at No. 3 doubles with Fan and Jack Kimbrough.

This is the first 7A title won by Vestavia. The team's previous championships were won at the 6A level.
