Rebels Place 2nd At Boys State Indoor Track Meet, 3rd In Girls

The boys indoor track team from Vestavia finished at the state runner up at the AHSAA meet, while girls team finished third.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Vestavia Hills High School boys and girls indoor track teams are among the state's best, and at the Alabama High School Athletic Association meet Feb. 5-6, the Rebels came close to finishing the season at no.1.

At the Birmingham Crossplex, VHHS finished second in the state in the Class 7A boys meet, and third in the girls meet.

Vestavia's boys won the 4 x 400 relay and finished fourth in the 4 x 800 relay.

Ethan Strand and Alex Leath finished first and second, respectively, in the boys 800 meter event, while Strand also finished first in the 1600 meter race and the 3200 meter race. Bo Webb had a fifth place finish in the 60-meter hurdles and Sam Culbertson finished third in the high jump.

Not to be outdone by the boys team, Crawford West from the girls team won the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter races. Angelica Vines placed second in the 60 meter hurdles and Gabby Walla finished second in the high jump.
