Sen. Waggoner Honored At Vestavia Hills Council Meeting
Mayor Ashley Curry recognized Waggoner for his tenure as a state legislator, the longest in the state's history.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — State Sen. Jabo Waggoner got a big surprise at the Nov. 13 Vestavia Hills City Council meeting. Mayor Ashley Curry recognized Waggoner for his tenure as a state legislator, the longest in the state's history.
Waggoner first took office in 1966 as a state representative and has served as senator for the 16th District since 1990. Curry secretly arranged for Waggoner's family to enter the meeting just after Waggoner began a discussion on the 2018 legislative session, which he believed was the purpose of his attendance.
The council also recognized Vestavia Hills Police Deputy Chief Kevin York for his four decades of service. York stepped down from his position earlier this month.
