Students Launch Petition To Get Day After Halloween Off
Some students at Vestavia Hills High School have launched an online petition to get Nov. 1 off school.
VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Halloween is certainly one of the most anticipated holidays for kids, and it is one that involves nighttime activity. That is why some students at Vestavia Hills High School are petitioning to have the day after Halloween off of school.
Halloween falls on a Thursday this year, so students would have to go to school the next day. The petition, launched on change.org this week, states, "Halloween is one of the best holidays of the year. Getting to stay out late and have fun is a major part of it. Having to go to worry about waking up early in the morning for school shouldn’t be a problem. Students should get to stay out longer and not have to go to bed at a decent time."
More than 3,000 people have signed the petition, with a goal of 5,000 signatures. Whether or not the petition will effect any change is yet to be seen, but students at other school systems have followed Vestavia's lead.
