Travel Advisory Issued For JeffCo By National Weather Service
Freezing temperatures in Jefferson County and surrounding areas could affect roadways.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — As temperatures around the Birmingham metro started to drop Tuesday, the National Weather Service warned that roadways may become hazardous as evening approached. they were right, as several traffic accidents on the interstates around Birmingham have already been reported and attributed to slick road conditions.
Wrecks have been reported on I-59/20, Highway 280 and I-65 already this morning.
"Temperatures falling below freezing with residual moisture on local roadways will lead to the possibility of hazardous travel in some areas late tonight into early Wednesday morning," a report by the National Weather Service in Birmingham said. "Patchy ice may create slick spots on some local roads."

The NWS-Birmingham said to use extreme caution when traveling, and that temperatures will rise above freezing by 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Continue to drive safely and slowly this morning due to near freezing temperatures and residual water on elevated surfaces, bridges and overpasses. Conditions will quickly improve by mid morning as temperatures rise above freezing. pic.twitter.com/xWVcW6naEs
