Two Vestavia Hills Residents To Be Honored At 6th Annual Smart Party
April Aaron-Bush and Henna Budhwani will be recognized at the event for their work in the community.
VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Two Vestavia Hills residents will be honored at the sixth annual Smart Party, an event held by EBSCO Industries in conjunction with the Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham and the Smart Party Committee. April Aaron-Bush and Henna Budhwani will be recognized at the event for their work in the community.
Aaron-Bush is the co-founder of the Birmingham Gay and Lesbian Parents Association, a group which provides LGBTQ parents with support and resources. She also serves as chair of the Southern Advisory Board of the Family Equality Council, where she coordinates parent groups, anti-bullying seminars, and awareness efforts in 13 states, like the Birmingham Barons "Out at the Field."
Budhwani is an assistant professor at UAB in the Department of Health Care Organization and Policy, where she researches health disparities in immigrant and minority communities in the U.S. and in women and youth around the world. Her projects are focused on reducing HIV occurrence in the Caribbean and locally. Budhwani is also heavily involved in the community, serving on a variety of panels and boards, and also contributes to The Huffington Post.

Both women will receive recognition for their local efforts during the event on Oct. 12, which is a celebration of Birmingham women and an opportunity to raise funds and awareness.
