Vestavia Council Approves Massey Road Sidewalk Project
With the city approving the funding agreement with ALDOT, right-of-way acquisition can begin on the Massey Road sidewalk project.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — The Vestavia Hills City Council this week approved funding for sidewalks on Massey Road, a projects already approved by the Alabama Department of Transportation.
ALDOT has approved the city’s construction plans, and with the city approving the funding agreement with ALDOT, right-of-way acquisition can begin, with utility relocation and the bidding process to follow, according to a Vestavia Voice Report.
The project is expected to cost about $2.7 million, with the city responsible for 20 percent and ALDOT responsible for 80 percent. The agreement only addresses the building of sidewalks on the road, from U.S. 31 to Columbiana Road, and does not address the widening and improvement of the road.
