Vestavia Council Looks At Movie Theater Improvements

The Vestavia Hills City Council discussed making improvements to the AMC movie theater at the City Center.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - The Vestavia Hills City Council work session Monday included a discussion involving improvements to the movie theater at the Vestavia Hills City Center. The theater, became an AMC theater recently, and AMC and the City Center's property managers have agreed that it will stay for at least the next 10 years.

According to a report by the Vestavia Voice, some of the improvements include reducing the number of seats, improving food options and serving alcoholic beverages. Katz Properties purchased the City Center in November last year, and plan to redevelop the property to attract more business and shoppers.

City Manager Jeff Downes said the preliminary plans for the renovation of the theater are in the process of being filed, but the city would need to approve an alcohol license for the facility to operate in the described capacity.
