Vestavia Hills Chiropractor Says He Will Not 'Hire Overweight People' In Video

A local chiropractor was captured on camera by an ex-employee saying that he doesn't "hire overweight people."

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — A Vestavia Hills chiropractor has come under fire for comments made in a video that has circulated through social media. Chris Harrison, owner of Dr. Chris Harrison Chiropractic, was captured on camera by an ex-employee saying that he doesn't "hire overweight people," according to AL.com.

The employee, Stephanie Hearn, was hired three weeks ago and was in training until she quit last week. Hearn decided to leave her position at the practice because Harrison was constantly criticizing her weight, belittling her, and monitoring her blood sugar.

In the video, Harrison tries to explain to Hearn why he treated her this way.

“You told me you wanted to work for me. I told you I don't hire overweight people. I told you that,” Harrison said. Hearn said that his actions were illegal, to which Harrison replied, “Good. Go call the FBI."

Hearn told AL.com that during her employment, Harrison offered to help her lose weight, prescribing books for her to purchase and read and even offering her protein shakes.

Harrison later confirmed his on-camera statements, saying that if Hearn hadn't show improvement by the end of her 90-day training period, he would have possibly terminated her employment.

"I didn't see anything I was very upset about. It didn't bother me. If I was acting, I would have been a little more controlled in what I said, but I'm a human too," Harrison told AL.com. "I can see that Stephanie is in distress, and I'm just praying that Jesus would send her the holy spirit."
