Vestavia Hills High School On Soft Lockdown

Vestavia Hills High School was placed on a soft lockdown early Friday morning regarding a situation happening outside of the school.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Vestavia Hills High School was placed on a soft lockdown early Friday morning regarding a situation happening outside of the school. Teachers were instructed to lock their doors and continue instructing their classes, and students are still free to continue their daily activities.

A statement from the school sent to the parents stated that the school was placed on lockdown after a report of a suspicious person was called into the Vestavia Hills Police Department. Police advised the school to go on a 90-minute soft lockdown that was then suspended at 9:40 a.m. once the suspicious person was determined to no longer be on the premises.

Police will maintain a presence on campus as a precaution.
