Vestavia Hills Named Safest City In Alabama

The city also placed in the 25th percentile of safest cities around the country.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — According to website SafeHome, Vestavia Hills is the safest city in the state of Alabama, coming in first on its yearly state rankings. The city also placed in the 25th percentile of safest cities around the country.

Vestavia Hills scored an 87.25 out of 100 on the site's safety scale, reporting a 7.8 percent drop in property crimes over the past year. There were also only 22 reported violent crimes in the period studied, down only a small .4 percent from last year.

Birmingham came in 22nd with a low score of 46.07. Other Birmingham area cities included in the list were Pelham, 82.1; Alabaster, 81.91; Hoover, 76.75; and Bessemer, 24.94.
