Vestavia Hills Pastor Voted To Samford Board of Trustees

Danny Wood, senior pastor at Shades Mountain Baptist Church​, was elected to a four-year term on the Samfor University Board of Trustees.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — A local pastor was named to the Samford University Board of Trustees in its recent vote, according to the Birmingham Business Journal. Danny Wood, senior pastor at Shades Mountain Baptist Church, was elected to a four-year term.

Wood graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1999 from the Beeson Divinity School.

Nine of the board members were re-elected for another four year term: Karon O. Bowdre, federal judge, Birmingham; Victor M. Brown, Birmingham Business Alliance executive, Birmingham; Robert Holmes Jr., retired executive with Alabama Power, Birmingham; Don Kilgore of Jasper; Sherri P. McKean, board chair, Children First Foundation, Montgomery; Garry Ray Pearman, businessman, Huntsville; and Roderic G. Steakley, attorney, Brownsboro.

Three new board members were elected alongside Wood. Attorneys Andy Birchfield and Sharon Donaldson Stuart will both serve full terms, while attorney Albert Shumaker will finish out the remainder of the late Albert Brewer's term.
