Vestavia Hills Planning and Zoning Commission Postpones Overton Village Condos Decision

A vote on the proposed property's rezoning in Cahaba Heights was postponed without action.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — The Vestavia Hills Planning and Zoning Commission has effectively tabled discussion on the Overton Village Condo development until further notice. A vote on the proposed property's rezoning in Cahaba Heights was postponed without action.

The condos, which are split between Vestavia and Mountain Brook, would have 10 units on the Vestavia side and 31 on the Mountain Brook side. Mountain Brook's planning commission recently voted to approve their parcel's rezoning, and action on the condos' development became contingent on a Vestavia vote.

After the commission heard a presentation of concerns from community members, as well as receiving a petition with 236 signatures from community members opposed to the rezoning, a representative of the development asked for a postponed vote so further research on the issues raised could be conducted, specifically regarding traffic. The team might also consider changing its plans for the Vestavia portion to fit the current zoning.
