Vestavia Mock Trial Team Takes Home Awards At Judicial Conference
Vestavia's Mock Trial Team had a strong showing at the YMCA Youth Judicial Conference.
VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — The Vestavia Hills High School Mock Trial team participated last weekend in the YMCA Youth Judicial Conference, the state's largest mock trial tournament.
The team competed with 600 other high school students in both the Federal Courthouse and the Montgomery County Courthouse.
Team 353 (Carter Dewees, Sarah Beth Corona, Ryan Conn, Safa Khan, Jacob Moore, Riya Parikh, William Seitz, and Whitt Shuemaker) won the Hugh Maddox Award, the competition's most outstanding honor given to the "best overall team" for performance, sportsmanship, and character.

They also earned a bid to the National Judicial Competition this summer in Chicago, according to Michael Sinnott, VHHS English teacher and Mock Trial Team sponsor.
