Arizona Projected To Add More Than 500K Jobs By 2029
The Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity projects the state will add more than 500K jobs by 2029. Here's why.

PHOENIX, AZ — The state of Arizona is expected to add more than 500,000 jobs over the next decade.
That's the summation of a report released on Thursday by the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity, which projects the Grand Canyon State will add 549,453 jobs between now and 2029.
Such an jump in jobs would represent a 1.6 percent increase, more than four times the national projection of 0.4 percent during the same timeframe, the office said.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey touted the office's projections, calling them a sign of the state's bright economic future.
“Arizona has become a jobs magnet,” Ducey said in a statement. “Not only are jobs booming, wages are rising faster at one of the fastest rates in the country. Our recovery is moving forward and there is more opportunity before us than ever before.”

The office's report states that Arizona can expect to go from its current jobs level, which was just more than 3.1 million in 2019, to close to 3.7 million by 2029.
The industries that are expected to pace Arizona's jobs growth are education and health services (2.9 percent increase), construction (2.2 percent increase), professional and business services (2.0 percent increase) and financial activities (1.7 percent increase).
Maricopa County is expected to lead the state in job growth over the next decade, with a 1.9 percent increase in jobs in the central Arizona county.
Pinal County (1.7 percent), Greenlee County (1.5 percent), Yavapai County (1.2 percent) and Mohave County (1.0 percent) round of the top-five in Arizona.
The office's projections assume that there will not be a major economic or political disruption during the next decade; in addition to assuming government agencies will operate within their budgets and the U.S. economic framework won't change significantly between now and 2029.
