AZ Parents: Do You Want Your Young Teens Vaccinated?

ARIZONA — The federal panel that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention voted to recommend that the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine be used in children ages 12-15 after the Food and Drug Administration announced earlier this week that it was expanding its emergency use authorization for the vaccine.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey released a statement on the vaccine expansion:

“The COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and free ‒ and they’re our best shot to end this pandemic and return to the things we’ve missed. We’re moving quickly to empower parents and guardians to get this protection for their children,” Governor Doug Ducey said. “Millions of Arizonans have already received the COVID-19 vaccine. Soon, kids ages 12 to 15 years old will now be eligible to get vaccinated and state vaccine sites are ready to serve them.”

Kids 12 and up will be eligible to get vaccinated in Arizona today, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services. Parent or legal guardian consent is required for COVID-19 vaccination, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
