May 12, 2021

TEMPE, Ariz. – Fulton Homes, Arizona's largest family-owned and -operated homebuilder, was recently announced as 2021 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year winner for Sustained Excellence, marking the seventh consecutive year the homebuilder received recognition from the Environmental Protection Agency’s program. As summer temperatures start to regularly hit triple digits, the local homebuilder that has been building solely in Arizona for more than 40 years is reigniting the award’s significance as the market for new homes continues to stay hot, much like the summer temperatures.

“All of our employees, and our entire company, live and operate in the Valley,” said Fulton Homes CEO Doug Fulton. “We want to be the local leaders in building energy-efficient, healthy homes as more builders enter the market from out of state.”

Energy efficiency—using less energy to perform the same operation—becomes more and more relevant as temperatures rise in the summer. A home’s systems—including HVAC, windows and lighting—can have an abundant impact on energy efficiency, and thus consumption of resources and overall impact on the larger environment.

More relevant to most homeowners are lower energy bills. Homes that are ENERGY STAR certified are at least 10% more energy efficient than those built to code. They show 20% improvement on average for energy efficiency while providing homeowners with better quality, performance, and comfort.

This award itself is reserved for ENERGY STAR partners demonstrating outstanding leadership, year after year, as presented by the EPA. The highest honor among the ENERGY STAR Awards is the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award.

ENERGY STAR is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency, providing simple, credible and unbiased information that consumers and businesses rely on to make well-informed decisions. Certified ENERGY STAR products help consumers save billions of kilowatt-hours of electricity and achieve greenhouse gas reductions.
