1 Dead, 7 Injured In Shooting At Hyatt Hotel In Downtown Phoenix

A large fight between people inside the hotel on North 2nd Street led to gunfire at the hotel shortly after midnight.

PHOENIX — A shooting at the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Phoenix has killed one person and left seven others wounded.

Phoenix police said the gunfire rang out at the hotel at 122 N. 2nd St. around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. A fight between several people among two groups, all between 18 and 22 years old, broke out during an event inside the hotel that led to the shooting, police said.

All other victims of the Hyatt hotel shooting are expected to survive, Phoenix police said.

Arrests had not been made as of Sunday afternoon. The fatal victim also hadn't been identified by that time.

Streets around the hotel, near Third and Van Buren streets, were closed for hours Sunday as police continued an investigation.
