This training helps mitigate social tension between our largest American alligator, Brutus, and the rest of the group Roscoe, Larry, Elvis, Elbee and Cleetus. Crocodilians are social animals and may exhibit territorial aggression towards one another.
This training also lets our animals become more accustom to the keepers, which makes them more comfortable working with us.

The end goal with this training is to be able to have our animals come on land for potential medical observation and treatment.
During your next Zoo visit, see if you can catch a glimpse of Brutus working on target training!
