The National Weather Service's Climate Projection Center gives Phoenix a 42% chance at above-average rainfall in July. Here's what to know.

PHOENIX, AZ — The monsoon should start kicking off in earnest in the Valley this month, according to the National Weather Service's Climate Projection Center.

The center gives Phoenix a 42 percent chance at above normal precipitation through the month, compared to a 33 percent chance of near normal rainfall and a 25 percent chance of below average precipitation.

The Phoenix area typically receives .91 inches of rain in July, which is the second-wettest month on record, behind March.

The region has between a 30-40 percent chance of rain each day, starting tonight through Monday, the service said.
