The coronavirus vaccinations are now available by appointment at 24 locations in Arizona.

ARIZONA — CVS has dramatically increased the number of Arizona locations that are administering coronavirus vaccinations, the company announced Friday.
The number of CVS pharmacies taking appointments for the shots in Arizona is now 24, up from just eight since the company began giving shots in the state.
The new locations announced Friday are spread throughout the entire state. As of about 11 a.m. Friday, almost all of them were listed as "fully booked" on the CVS website, but customers were being urged to keep checking and make an appointment when one becomes available.

In Arizona, people currently eligible for the vaccine include those age 55 or over, health care and EMS workers, long-term care facility residents and staff, K-12 teachers and staff, child care workers and law enforcement/protective service workers. Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced a "hybrid" approach to vaccine administration this week. County health departments across the state can transition to the next age category when 55 percent of people in their current category are vaccinated, or if they feel that there is no longer demand for vaccine.
The Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 vaccines is a collaboration between the federal government, states and territories, and 21 national pharmacy partners and independent pharmacy networks.
According to the CDC, the program is being implemented incrementally based on the available vaccine supply, with select retail pharmacy locations providing COVID-19 vaccine to eligible individuals. As vaccine availability increases over time, the program will expand to ultimately include all 40,000 pharmacies in the United States, the CDC said.
As of Friday, more than 2 million vaccine shots had been given in Arizona. More than 1.3 million had gotten a single dose of one of the vaccines, while more than 711,000 had received both shots, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.
