West Valley Shootings Suspect Shot Another Man Last Month: Police
Ashin Tricarico, 19, has been charged with first-degree murder and multiple felonies in connection with a series of West Valley shootings.

PHOENIX, AZ — A 19-year-old man who has been charged with first-degree murder and multiple other felonies in connection with Thursday's West Valley shootings was involved in a separate shooting last month that left another man injured, Phoenix police said Saturday.
Ashin Tricarico of Surprise is accused of shooting and killing one person and injuring 13 others in eight separate incidents that started just after 11 a.m. Thursday, according to police.
Tricarico was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault and endangerment, in addition to multiple counts of drive by shooting and endangerment, police said.

On Saturday, Phoenix police said Tricarico was also involved in a May 5 shooting that happened in the area of Black Canyon Access and Dunlap Avenue.
At the time, Tricarico was working as a licensed armed security guard at a restaurant when he was asked to deal with an intoxicated male customer. After Tricarico went outside to call 911, the man reportedly charged at him, police said. Tricarico fired one shot in self-defense, he told police. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

If convicted of 1st-degree murder in connection with Thursday's shootings, Tricarico faces life in prison, with or without the chance for parole, or the death penalty.
Tricarico also faces upwards of eight years in prison per count if convicted of aggravated assault.

He faces between 10-21 years in prison per count if convicted of drive by shooting, and 18 months in prison if convicted of endangerment.
At least four people were injured by gunfire while the others suffered injuries from shrapnel and other causes, Peoria police said.
The shootings occurred across eight locations along west Bell Road, as well as Northern Avenue, west Union Hills Drive, north El Mirage Road, Loop 101 and Thunderbird Road and Loop 303 and Happy Valley Road, starting just after 11 a.m., according to Peoria police.
The person killed in the shooting was identified as a 56-year-old man, Peoria police said.
