Man Shot In Exchange Of Gunfire With Phoenix Police: Officials

Police said an armed man traded gunfire with police in Phoenix after he violated an order of protection.

PHOENIX, AZ — A man was hospitalized after exchanging gunfire with police Sunday evening in Phoenix, according to authorities.

Officers said they were called to a home in the area of 39th Avenue at Thunderbird, where a man was violating a protective order around 5 p.m.

Police said the man was armed with a gun, and he and one officer traded gunfire.

The individual, who was shot, was taken to the hospital, according to Sgt. Ann Justus of the Phoenix Police Department. Justus said the officer was unharmed. The condition of the man who had been shot was not immediately available.
