PHOENIX, AZ — Maricopa County reported 71 additional COVID-19 cases and 13 new deaths on Wednesday.

The additions bring the county's total number of cases to 521,029, with 9,433 deaths countywide.

In today's update, the county reported 36,120 hospital admissions, a 7 percent increase over the day before. The number of county residents in ICU care remained relatively stable on Monday, at 2,368.

Wednesday's dashboard update showed the number of vaccine doses given out countywide increased by 4,162, to 504,634 on Wednesday.

The COVID-19 testing positive rate was 5 percent this week, matching the percentage positive rate from last week.

In other COVID-19 news on Tuesday, data from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore shows that around 120.85 million cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed worldwide, with 2,673,202 deaths worldwide. In the United States, there have been around 29.55 million confirmed COVID-19 cases and 536,980 deaths.
