Moment Of Silence For Phoenix Cop Killed In Line Of Duty

PHOENIX, AZ — The Phoenix Police Department is hosting a virtual moment of silence in honor of Commander Greg Carnicle who was killed in the line of duty Sunday.

Amid the new coronavirus epidemic, people's ability to gather has been diminished, so police decided to hold the event online. It will run from noon to 12:15 p.m. on April 7.

"The COVID19 health crisis has impacted the ability to gather together to pay tribute to fallen Phoenix Police Commander Greg Carnicle," police said in a Facebook post in their event page.

"We invite you to joins us wherever you are in a moment of silence to pay tribute to his 31 years of service." The event will be led by the Phoenix Police Honor Guard and run through Facebook Live.

Cmdr. Carnicle was killed Sunday responding to a domestic disturbance call. He and two other officers were shot. The other two are expected to recover.
