Phoenix Burger Joint Makes Top 31 In US List

PHOENIX — One of Phoenix's favorite burger joints placed on Thrillist's "31 Best Burger Joints in America." The Stand, at 3538 E. Indian School Rd., placed on the list, which names favorite burger joints in no particular order.

Thrillist's Matt Lynch said the Stand was an "instant hit" upon its 2013 opening, and while it offers tacos as well, the Stand is "all about the burger, ground daily-in house and topped with lettuce and tomato, kosher dills, and Stand Sauce."

The article intentionally focused not on incredible "$18 chef-driven creation" burgers, but "something crafted in a place that lives and breathes ground meat." A burger joint like the stand.

Lynch recommends people nix the raw onion and add caramelized onions to the burger, paired with a salted dulce-de-leche shake and some hand-cut fries.

A second restaurant run by the same owner, the Grande Stand, is similar but focuses more on hot dogs, tacos and salads, according to their website.

The Stand was the only Arizona joint to make Thrillist's list.
