PHOENIX — One of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright's unique homes in Phoenix has sold for over $7 million.

A group of buyers, including architect Bing Hu and businessman Jim Benson purchased the house for $7.25 million. Both men are on the board of School of Architecture at Taliesin, which was started by Wright in 1932, the Arizona Republic first reported.

Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing. The agency announced the sale after the buyers said they intended to preserve and restore the house.

“The sellers wanted nothing to do with those proposals as their intention from day one when they purchased it back in 2012 was to make sure the home and its integrity would be preserved as such a historic Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece should and will be,” said Bob Hassett, the real estate agent for the home.

The "David and Gladys Wright" home was originally designed for Wright's son and daughter-in-law in 1950. The three-bedroom and four-bathroom block home resides on nearly six acres of land in the Arcadia neighborhood.

The home was sold by Gladys Wright's family in 2008. One previous owner tried to demolish it almost a decade ago. A plan to donate the home to the architecture school also fell through.
