Suspect Named In Shooting That Killed 17-Year-Old Phoenix Girl

Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the Friday shooting that happened near 43rd Avenue and Indian School Road​.

PHOENIX, AZ — Police have identified a suspect in a Friday shooting that left a 17-year-old girl dead.

Authorities have arrested 23-year-old Francisco Sanchez in connection with the shooting that happened in the early morning hours near 43rd Avenue and Indian School Road in west Phoenix.

Sanchez is facing potential murder, kidnapping and other felony charges, according to a release from the Phoenix Police Department.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. Friday morning, according to an earlier report from police. The girl was reportedly shot by a man after he approached the vehicle in which she and her family were traveling, authorities said.

Police on Friday said someone was in custody but did not release a name.
