Tucson Pops Orchestra Cancels Spring Concert Series
Tucson Pops Orchestra will hold its 'Music Under the Stars' series in the fall instead of the spring.

TUCSON, AZ — The beat will go on for members of Tucson Pops Orchestra in 2021, just a few seasons later than originally planned.
The orchestra's board of directors announced Thursday that the organization would not hold its "Music Under the Stars" series this spring, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, the orchestra will hold the series during the fall in an effort to ensure that musicians and attendees are as safe as possible when the music returns to Reid Park.

"Ensuring the safety of our musicians and our wonderful audience members is our first priority” Pops Executive Director Jonathon Crider said in a press release. “If things keep moving in the right direction, we should be ready for a much needed month of music in September, returning to our Sunday evening schedule of concerts."
The orchestra is still planning on releasing its cover of the iconic Sound of Music soundtrack digitally on May 9, however.

The orchestra's roots date back 68 years ago, when Georges DeMeester and a group of musicians launched the organization with a common goal of sharing their love of music with the public.
They've performed all over the Old Pueblo since then, with stops at Tucson's VA Hospital, Himmel and Reid parks, to name of few.
