PRESS RELEASE – For Immediate Release PRESS RELEASE – For Immediate Release FORT SMITH, AR - The Entire Community is invited to a HUGE CELEBRATION of the 30th ANNIVERSARY of SURVIVORS’ CHALLENGE WEEKEND, October 16 & 17, 2021 at the Reynolds Cancer Support House! The Entire Community is invited to a HUGE CELEBRATION of the 30th ANNIVERSARY of SURVIVORS’ CHALLENGE WEEKEND, October 16 & 17, 2021 at the Reynolds Cancer Support House! ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?! ARE YOU READY TO RUN, WALK, SWIM, OR BIKE TO HELP SOMEONE FIGHT CANCER?! YOU are invited to RUN or WALK and /or compete in the Inaugural TRIATHLON! This fun-filled weekend has something for everyone and raises money to support local cancer patients and their families in ‘OUR’ community!!  RUN or WALK and /or compete in the Inaugural TRIATHLON! Each year, hundreds of people participate in the annual Survivors’ Challenge Weekend Events. Register today to secure your spot in the fun activities! Survivors’ Challenge Weekend located in front of the Reynolds Cancer Support House at 8am! 10K and 5K runners and 5K walkers will compete on a challenging course along neighboring streets and hills to cross the Finish Line back at the Support House. Medals are awarded in age divisions. Also Saturday, Cancer Survivors and their support team will march in the CELEBRATION WALK around Creekmore Park to honor Survivors and to honor the memory of those no longer with us. CELEBRATION WALK Sunday, October 17, a competitive TRIATHLON will be held indoors at the Marvin Altman Fitness Center at Baptist Health Systems. individuals. Participants will compete in a Sprint Triathlon to include 500-yard swim, an 8-mile stationary bike ride, and finish with a 3-mile run! Medals will be given to the top finishers. Cancer patients face a mountain of unique physical, medical, and financial disadvantages while battling the disease and need our help now more than ever. Your support provides individualized patient care, cancer screenings, emotional support groups, financial assistance for prescriptions, housing, utilities, and transportation, wigs, mastectomy supplies, liquid nutrition, food, education and advocacy, information, and resource sharing, and more. The 2021 Survivors’ Challenge Weekend is a high energy experience bringing attention to the great needs of our neighbors suffering with the terrible disease of cancer. 100% of the net proceeds from Survivors’ Challenge Weekend stays in OUR community and is reinvested into the lives of those we serve! For 43 years, the Cancer Support House has passionately served cancer fighters and survivors and their family members.
