Cab Driver Killed In Little Rock: Capital Murder Charge Filed

Carlo Marigliano was found dead in a car that had crashed into an apartment complex in Little Rock.

LITTLE ROCK, AR — An Arkansas man was charged with capital murder in the shooting death of an Italian tourist who was found dead in a crashed rental car last week, police said.

Andre Jackson, 32, was charged in the shooting death of Carlo Marigliano, 31, a Naples taxi driver who was driving through Arkansas on his way to Arizona.

Marigliano, a married father of two, was traveling with friends in the U.S. for about a month before he left the group to visit other areas, his family told Little Rock television station KTHV. He was found dead July 28, in a car that had crashed into an apartment complex in Little Rock. Police believe Marigliano was shot and then crashed the rented vehicle into the side of one of the apartment buildings. Police said it's unclear how the two crossed paths or what may have led to the shooting.

Marigliano was hoping to make the U.S. his new home, according to Gianni Sulmonte, a cousin of Marigliano's father

"It's a shame the place where he wanted to build his family, bring his wife with his children, is the place where it comes to an end," Sulmonte told KTHV.

Jackson is jailed without bond. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Jackson wasn't a resident of the Berkley Apartments complex where Marigliano was found dead, Little Rock police spokesman Steve Moore told The Associated Press. A woman who answered the phone at the complex said management wouldn't be commenting on the case.

Investigators said they're also looking for a second suspect, a 31-year-old woman. Moore said the woman also doesn't live at the apartment complex.
