If you have been looking for some way to enjoy 24 hour access to golf content online, then NBC sports and Rory McIlroy has the service you want. On Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, both NBC and Rory announced GolfPass, a direct-to-consumer online golf membership. GolfPass is a monthly, or a one time yearly fee, subscription service with exclusive content. Some of the content already announced is a podcast hosted by McIlroy, about 4,000 hours of instructional videos, and over 1,000 hours of tournaments along with other behind the scenes content.

The president of golf at NBC Sports, Mike McCarley, said, that GolfPass sets itself apart from any other digital service is the ability to deliver all of the comprehensive benefits for a modern golfer’s lifestyle. He also pointed out that none of the content will be live, but offers other benefits such as; booking golf trips, shopping for new golfing gear or clothing, and offers tailored specifically for users.

This news comes after Discovery/Golf TV announced their own content service with Tiger Woods. It seems that networks are using major names and faces to draw attention to the brand new services, and there could be more providers trying to join the wave.

Golf has been trying to promote itself as more of a lifestyle sport, where groups can travel to new places and experience new courses no matter your age or ability. The sport is one of the only where viewers of the top level is also playing the sport in their free time. Many people who play the game and are always looking to improve the way they play the game. GolfPass’ plan is to help those viewers improve their game and give them the tools to visit a one stop shop for all things golf.

One of the cooler features of Golf Pass, is that through a subscription, users will be granted one round of golf free per month, as well as $100 worth of travel credits for the year. The service also has about 45 brands of new gear to choose from, which gives those who are always on the lookout for the next best thing on the market.
