City Of Little Rock Receives $35,000 African American Civil Rights Grant

The City of Little Rock has received a $35,000 grant from the Department of Interior, National Park Service (NPS) funded through the Historic Preservation Fund and the African American Civil Rights grant program, for the Survey and Nomination of the University Park Subdivision.

Fifty-one grants totaling $14,065,000 were awarded for projects across the United States. With these funds, organizations and agencies conserve significant U.S. cultural and historic resources, that illustrate, interpret, and are associated with the great events, ideas, and individuals that contribute to our nation’s history and culture.

This project will provide an architectural resource survey of the 160 single family and duplex residential units, conduct oral histories of longtime residents, and nominate the neighborhood as a National Register Historic District.

The Urban Renewal Project ARK R-51 is larger than the area being proposed in this project. This project is only the residential area north of 12th Street.
