Little Rock's MacArthur Museum Moves Literacy Program Online
A thematic set of lessons for the Reading Brigade will be uploaded via Google Drive every month.

The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History invites Arkansas public, private and home schools to participate in a virtual adaptation of its Children’s Literacy Program, Reading Brigade. Stories read during this program introduce young readers to U.S. military history, the effects of war on society and the environment, and appreciation for our men and women in service. Lessons will include a video read aloud by Museum Program Coordinator, Reveille Isgrig, as well as vocabulary, extra resources, and Core Standards-based supplemental activities for grades one through five. Modifications for other age groups can be made.

A thematic set of lessons for the Reading Brigade will be uploaded via Google Drive every month. Because this program is stored through Google Drive, educators will be able to access it at any time. Ms. Isgrig has degrees in English Literature and Modern Art History and strives to incorporate craft, literary appreciation, history and reading comprehension into each lesson.
Additionally, the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History has recently begun to host Reading Brigade online via Facebook Live. The program is offered on Facebook Live every Friday at 1 p.m. Previous episodes of the Facebook Live Reading Brigade can be accessed at https://www.facebook.com/armilitaryhistory/videos. The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History opened in May 2001 and seeks to educate local, state, national, and international visitors about Arkansas’s military heritage.
