14-Foot Python Goes Missing Amid Carr Fire Evacuations

Thanks to social media, the Redding owners were able to find their python after she went missing in the Carr Fire.

REDDING, CA -- Thanks to social media, the proud owners of a massive 5-year-old python were able to find their pet in less than 24 hours. Eres, a 14-foot lavender albino reticulated python, went missing from a temporary enclosure in Redding as the deadly Carr Fire swept through the city.

The owners, Redding Reptiles, posted photos on social media Monday following the escape, urging the public to help bring Eres home.

"If you’re safe and available to come help search for her, call us," the owners, who have had Eres for four years, wrote on Facebook. "We’ll take all the help we can get. Please check your backyards in the his area and call us if you find her."

They described her as a "beautiful and friendly snake" that was "lost and scared."

Within 24 hours, Eres came home.

"She was hiding in a milk crate on the patio of a neighbor’s back yard," the owners wrote on Facebook. "Not far away from where she escaped. We are ever thankful to the community of Redding for helping us find her during this devastating time."

The Carr Fire is one of several wildfires to burn in California in recent days. As of Tuesday, the fire was just 27 percent contained.

Now, has anyone seen a 25-pound tortoise?
