25 Of CA's Best New Restaurants Named In New Michelin Guide

Seven of the 25 restaurants are in the Los Angeles area, while five are in San Diego.

ACROSS CALIFORNIA — For aspiring restaurants, recognition from the Michelin Guide can do wonders in terms of attracting new customers. In 2017, the late chef Joël Robuchon said a single star can increase business by 20 percent, while three stars can raise traffic by 100 percent.

This year, however, the 2020 Michelin Guide was not published in recognition for the widespread damage caused from the pandemic. Still, the French tire company is finding ways to recognize outstanding eateries across California.

During a virtual dinner on October 27, Michelin inspectors released their 25 favorite restaurant discoveries from 2020. Seven of the 25 restaurants fall within the Greater Los Angeles area, while San Diego scored five spots on the list.
