34 CA Cities Increasing Minimum Wage In 2021
Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and San Jose are just some of the cities that will adjust their minimum wage rates next year.
CALIFORNIA — After a historically hard year for businesses and families, California and a number of its cities are raising their hourly minimum wage rates.
The minimum wage in California was $13 per hour, but will increase to $14 in 2021 for companies counting more than 26 employees (for businesses with fewer than 26 employees, the wage is rising from $12 to $13.)
Many municipalities already have minimum wages well above that, and several will increase next year. However, minimum wage rules are a complicated patchwork of county and municipal regulations that often vary based on the type of company. Some cities or counties, as shown below, tie their minimum wage rates to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a method of measuring inflation based of the average change in prices paid by consumers for a fixed market basket of goods and services.
