CA Father Sought In Child Abduction, Stabbing

The suspect is considered armed & dangerous.

UPDATE AT 4:16 P.M. JULY 4:

MODESTO, CA — A child who was allegedly abducted in Modesto Saturday has been found safe, but his father is still being sought by police.

Adler Lara, 11, was reported safe at 1 p.m. Sunday, and an Amber Alert issued across much of Central and Southern California was canceled, Modesto police announced.

In addition to the abduction, Walter Fernando Zuniga Lara, 38, is suspected of stabbing the child’s mother in the parking lot of a Motel 6 on West Orangeburg Avenue in Modesto prior to the alleged kidnapping.

The woman was critically wounded and an update on her condition was not provided.

Anyone who sees Walter Lara is asked to call 911 immediately. He is described as 5-feet, 7-inches, 160 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt, shorts and shoes.

The vehicle used in the alleged abduction, a 2006 BMW 330i, has been found.

MODESTO, CA — An 11-year-old boy remains missing after being abducted early on the 4th of July, California Highway Patrol reports.

Adler Lara, 11, was last seen with Walter Fernando Lara, at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday evening in Modesto, Stanislaus County.

They were last seen in the area of Olympia Street at Glenn Avenue in the city of Modesto.

CHP has said that Walter Lara should be considered armed and dangerous.

An Amber Alert was released on behalf of the Modesto Police Department Sunday morning, to the counties of Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, Imperial, San Bernardino and Stanislaus counties.

He is 5-feet, 7-inches, 160 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt, shorts and shoes.

Adler Lara is 11, 5-feet tall, approximately 120 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Patch is confirming a report that the vehicle they were last known to be inside, a 2006 BMW 330i, was found at 9 a.m. Sunday according to CHP. Neither Walter nor Adler Lara has yet been located.
