CHP Hits CA Roads In Full Force For Holiday 'Maximum Enforcement'
California Highway Patrol Officers will be out in force this holiday. Over Christmas weekend, drivers are reminded to watch their speed.

It's maximum enforcement time on highways across California. As California residents prepare for the Christmas holiday during the coronavirus pandemic, the California Highway Patrol reminds everyone that safe driving rules are just as critical as ever.
CHP will implement the Maximum Enforcement Period to safeguard California's roadways, drivers, and their precious cargo over the upcoming holiday weekend.
The maximum enforcement begins at 6:01 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, and concludes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 27.

During that time, all available officers will be on the road for enhanced enforcement and assist any drivers in need of help.
During the holiday, light traffic is expected. Still, those open roadways are "not an invitation to speed," a CHP spokesperson says. "The rules of the road still apply, and motorists should avoid driving tired, impaired, or distracted."

California's Regional at Stay Home Order is in place across most of the state. Gov. Newsom has advised residents to stay close to home as much as possible and not travel significant distances.
If you must travel, the CHP wanted to share some important traffic safety tips to help you arrive safely: drive sober, avoid distractions, always buckle up, and leave plenty of time to get to your destination.
“The CHP wants to ensure your safety throughout this unprecedented year,” said CHP Commissioner Amanda Ray. “We are hopeful that the public will do their part and remember to make safety a priority.”
