Trump Visits California As Fires Ravage West Coast: Video Replay

President Donald Trump gave a brief public address during his stop in California Monday.

McCLELLAN PARK, CA — President Donald Trump spoke during his trip to California Monday. He awarded the distinguished flying cross to seven soldiers involved in rescues amid the California wildfires.

The ceremony honoring the members of the California National Guard was held in McClellan Park near Sacramento-McClellan Airport. He met with public officials, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, prior to his address honoring the National Guard.

Recent fires in California, Oregon and Washington have accounted for at least 35 deaths and more than 3 million acres burned.

The president's visit to California came just after his challenger in the Nov. 3 election, Democrat Joe Biden, criticized his response to the fires and climate change in general.

In a Wilmington, Delaware address earlier on Monday, Biden said Trump's “climate denial may not have caused these fires and hurricanes.” But his response had exacerbated it.

Biden, in his remarks, called Trump a "climate arsonist" and one who has repeatedly described climate change as a hoax.

Trump spoke at a rally for his re-election campaign in Nevada on Sunday.
