A 400 years old Torah scroll was rolled back by J.S.N. Students

J.S.N. student were overwhelmed to be in the presence of a very special 400 year old Torah that survived the Holocaust.

Yesterday, Jewish people all over the world, celebrated the 5th holiday of the hebrew month of Tishrey.

Just when you think it’s over with a holiday, another one starts. Rosh Hashana, Kippur, Sukkot, Shemini Atseret and finally yesterday the holiday of Simhat Torah. That is when we conclude — and begin anew — the annual reading of the entire Torah cycle.

At J.S.N., we opened the year with our shofar workshops and apple-challah baking classes for Rosh Hashanah. We made an edible sukkah and we shaked and danced with the Lulav & Etrog for Sukkot Holiday. Yesterday, we’ve celebrated Simchat Torah like never before. Our students had the rare opportunity to roll back (from Deuteronomy to Genesis), a very special Torah scroll that survived the Holocaust. That was such a moving experience to know that this particular 400 years old Torah scroll-will continue to inspire a new generation of students at J.S..N (A home based Hebrew school in our community celebrating 23 years of excellency in Jewish education )

As the month of Tishrey comes to a close, we have experienced and celebrated the most powerful moments of the Jewish year. As the Torah reading cycle comes to an end, we have read, studied and were inspired by its timeless teachings.

Now that we start reading the Torah all over again, what new lessons, insights, and inspiration will we derive this time around?
