Conejo Valley YMCA Hosts Summer YMCA Day and Resident Camps

The Conejo Valley YMCA is taking signups for its summer day camp and resident camp. Day camp dates are June 10 through August 16 at the YMCA (4031 N. Moorpark Rd., Thousand Oaks). Campers are grouped by age: kindergartners through third graders, fourth and fifth graders and sixth through eighth graders. Counselor-in-Training is available for students in ninth and tenth grades.

Each camp week will have a different theme. Activities include science and technology, theater, swimming, arts and crafts, engineering and sports. Scheduled field trips are based on age and include visits to Underwood Family Farms, Golf 'N Stuff, Ventura Aquatics Center, Santa Barbara Zoo, Glow Zone, Discovery Cube, Skating Plus, Scooters Jungle and the Ronald Reagan Library.

Children can attend full time or part time. Drop off times are 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. with pickups from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Resident camp will be at Camp Oakes in Big Bear July 6 through July 13. Camp is for kids entering grades four through nine. Leader-in-Training (10 and 11 graders) and Counselor-In-Training (12 graders) opportunities are also available.

Resident camp activities include climbing wall, zip line, fishing, canoeing, high ropes, low ropes, archery, arts and crafts, dance, drama, nature hikes, disc golf, volleyball, field games, night observatory and evening campfires.
