'Havdalah In The Sukkah' At The Agoura Senior Home
I made a commitment to visit the seniors in the community. Will you join me ? Last week's event was a meaningful and powerful experience!
AGOURA HILLS, CA – “Havdalah in the sukkah” at the Agoura Senior Home was sponsored By Nomie Azoff, founder of Judaic Studies by Nomie, and song leader and guitar player Mike Sirota.
Last week, after visiting the elders and seeing how happy they were to have someone come to them and explain what is a Sukkah or Havdalah, I made a commitment to visit them at least once a month and to bring along as many people as I can. Will you you be there to show your support?
So, as part of my school’s outreach program, we will commit this year once a month to visit the seniors in our community.

We will especially focus on activities relating to the Jewish holidays from a cultural point view. Once a month, a rabbi, a cantor, a music or art teacher will be our special guest for that date. This will also be an opportunity for students to gain community hours or Mitzvah hours, students need to complete.
If you have suggestions and Ideas to contribute or if you want to volunteer your talent as a song leader, an art teacher or other fields that might be of interest, please email me so we can put together other activities for our Seniors.

Last Saturday night, I held a special event at the Agoura Senior Home, called "havdalah in the Sukkah." This was an extremely short introduction (to keep our elders' focus....) but powerful and meaningful; both to the seniors as well as to the volunteers.
These two beautiful Jewish concepts: Rejoicing in the Sukkah while saying goodbye to the Shabbat day, included a short explanation and a-lot of singing...Most importantly, our seniors were extremely happy to see the kids sharing their knowledge and helping with practically everything: from passing on the snacks to rolling the walkers for them.
If you want to be informed on next event with the seniors, please email me your contact info, and I’ll make sure to send you more details.
Thanks!
