Highlights of the 15th Annual Reyes Adobe Days

Centered at the city’s landmark Reyes Adobe Historical Site, this year’s Reyes Adobe Days four-day festival will be an anniversary celebration featuring highlights from past festivals and special discounts. The festival brings both historical and contemporary cultural entertainment to the landmark historical site, with events for all ages that include a Senior Fiesta; Night at the Adobe art event and local tasting; 10K & 10-mile RAD Runs, RAD parade and the weekend Day at the Adobe free family weekend festival that attracts over 16,000 attendees.

Serving as celebrity Grand Marshal is one of Agoura Hills’s celebrity residents, actor/director/host and pitchman Regan Burns, who has lived in the community for 18 years. Fans can run along with Burns in the 10K RAD run or look for him presiding over the Reyes Adobe Days parade that kicks off the Day at the Adobe free family festival on Saturday, October 12.

The art showcase is “Celebrations at the Adobe”, a community-spirited art project commemorating 15 years of Reyes Adobe Days with images from 2004 to present. The winner of the community poster contest, Kathy S. Copsey, will have her entry featured on this year’s promotional campaign and a commemorative poster for sale at the event.

At this year’s Night at the Adobe adult-only art reception and tasting, guests can make sophisticated crafts with CREaTE Studios while sampling local wine, beer, signature snacks and enjoying entertainment under the stars. As part of the anniversary celebration, tickets will be discounted to just $15/advance and $20/door that includes tastings and hors d'oeuvres.

The Day at the Adobe free family festival will have new activities and entertainment in addition to the many returning popular attractions and historical demonstrations. Candle and rope making will join the rancho-themed crafts along with the traditional pony rides, train rides, petting zoo, Wings of Discovery animal exhibit, blacksmith, and drum circle, plus many other attractions families enjoy for free. Music and cultural performance stages offer a wide range of live entertainment with two tributes: Queen (Saturday) and Elton John (Sunday) headlining each afternoon. Locally-crafted beer, wine and artisan wares will return to “The Farmhouse” tent. Food trucks provide a variety of festival eats: BBQ, Mexican, grilled cheese, smoothies and sweets will be among the selection.

The 10K and 10-mile sanctioned RAD Runs offer historic and scenic courses through the Santa Monica Mountains. The race begins at Agoura Hills City Hall, passing by Paramount Ranch and Malibu Creek State Park and offers challenging, yet gently-rolling terrain with several straight-aways--perfect for both competitive and non-competitive runners. Grand Marshal Robert Burns will join the 10K run. Music, massages, giveaways and post-run pizza are all part of the event. $40 registration fee. October 12, 7:15 am. The city of Agoura Hills is also pleased to announce that Title Sponsor for 2019 RAD is Roadside Lumber & Hardware. Founded in 1975 and still independently operated, Roadside Lumber & Hardware is one of the oldest businesses in Agoura Hills along with the Agoura Hills Post Office.

Tickets are now available for featured RAD events at www.reyesadobedays.org. Senior Fiesta with Mexican buffet and entertainment is October 11, 11am to 2pm, reservations required and cost is $10. Night at the Adobe art opening is October 12, from 6:00 - 10:00pm. Admission is $15 advance purchase/ $20 at the door and includes 10 tickets for beer, wine and food tastings. The Day at the Adobe family festival is free admission and runs both October 13 & 14, 11 am to 4pm. RAD runs are October 13 beginning at 7:00 am.
