Man Involved In Promenade Standoff With Cops Arrested After Chase
A man who police believe was armed in Oxnard and who held officers at bay for 30 minutes in Westlake Village is in police custody.

AGOURA HILLS, CA — A suspected armed driver that police believed they had hemmed in near Westlake Village Tuesday afternoon managed to escape and led police on a freeway chase that eventually ended with his arrest in Ventura County.
The driver of a gray pickup truck that drew the attention of police after authorities received a report of a man with a gun in Oxnard around noon ended with the man being tackled and arrested by officers nearly 90 minutes later, according to reports.
After police responded to the call and started to follow the suspect in Oxnard, the driver headed south and ended up in what was being reported by police as a standoff in the parking lot of The Promenade in Westlake Village.

After several patrol cars appeared to have the driver blocked in and any possible exit route blocked, the man managed to elude police after a 30-minute standoff and continue the chase.
The man then got on the 101 Freeway before eventually leading police onto surface streets in Thousand Oaks. According to reports, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department attempted to block the driver in after he had exited the freeway, but the suspect managed to escape again by driving over a curb.

Law enforcement officers finally were able to surround the man’s vehicle near an agricultural area near Laguna and Wood roads in Camarillo, where the driver exited his vehicle and was taken into custody about 1:20 p.m. without incident.
The driver has not been identified by police.
